Biography

Marie-Angélique Cikuru Kajibwami is an agronomist and development specialist with extensive experience in agricultural innovation, seed systems development, and sustainable value chain transformation, with a strong focus on scaling agricultural technologies and improving farmer resilience.

She currently serves as Unit Lead and Technology Transfer Manager at the African Agricultural Leadership Institute (AALI), where she supports the scaling and adoption of agricultural technologies aimed at enhancing productivity, sustainability, and resilience among farming communities.

Prior to joining AALI, she served as SAH Project Lead for Medicinal Plants and Agronomy Certification Manager at Pharmakina, where she led the organic certification of quinine plantations and ensured compliance with Fairtrade standards across the production chain. She also advanced the application of Semi-Autotrophic Hydroponics (SAH) technology for the mass propagation of medicinal plants.

She has also worked as a consultant with IRSAC International, providing technical expertise in agronomy and food security, including the evaluation of large-scale agricultural investments and the design of sustainable and inclusive agricultural solutions. In addition, she served as Program Director at the PHC Foundation, where she oversaw development initiatives in agriculture, youth and women’s entrepreneurship, education, hAmatoealth, and environmental protection, while supporting private sector investment in agricultural value chains. Earlier in her career, she worked for seven years at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) as Seed Dissemination Manager, where she promoted cassava seed systems using SAH technology and contributed to the implementation of the Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT) program across 13 African countries in collaboration with farmers, NGOs, governments, and private sector partners.

Her professional work reflects a strong commitment to inclusive agricultural transformation, technology transfer, and the empowerment of women and youth through sustainable agribusiness and innovation-driven agricultural systems.
