Biography

Francine Mugisha Basabose is a food and agricultural engineer with a degree in Phytotechnology from the University of Goma and a Master’s in Food Innovation and Design from the University of Liège. She has extensive experience in agricultural development, with a focus on crop improvement, post-harvest management, and food processing systems.

She worked on maize hybrid improvement and multiplication, as well as on the processing of agricultural and fishery products within a demobilization and reintegration program for former combatants, where she strengthened her competencies in training, awareness-raising, and team management.

She currently serves as Processing and Value Addition Expert at the African Agricultural Leadership Institute (AALI), where she contributes to the design and implementation of youth intervention strategies across Agricultural Transformation Agenda program sites in the Democratic Republic of Congo. She oversees training activities, field installation, harvesting, and processing operations, while building the capacity of smallholder farmers in modern production techniques, post-harvest management, product processing, and agribusiness development. She also engages closely with key stakeholders, including farmers, local authorities, suppliers, and development partners.
