Biography

Kavunja Martin holds an Ir. degree in Agricultural Engineering, specializing in Phytotechnics, from the Catholic University of Bukavu (UCB). He has over eight years of professional experience in agricultural education, youth empowerment, and capacity building.

He currently serves as a Youth Brigade Core Team member at the African Agricultural Leadership Institute (AALI), where he coordinates the Vocational Agriculture Department. In this role, he leads interventions in South Kivu, Kasai Oriental, and Kinshasa, promoting agribusiness skills, practical agriculture, and leadership within partner agricultural technical schools.

Prior to joining AALI, he worked for four years with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), supporting the Start Them Early Program (STEP) in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In this capacity, he contributed to training secondary school students in the use of small-scale agricultural mechanization tools.

His professional experience demonstrates a strong commitment to advancing youth engagement in agriculture through practical skills development, technical training, and the promotion of entrepreneurship within agricultural education systems.
