Biography
Yves Mugaruka holds a degree in Agricultural Sciences, specializing in Crop Production, from the Catholic University of Bukavu (UCB). He is an agricultural development professional with expertise in Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning, and Impact Assessment (MELIA), combining technical agricultural knowledge with skills in project performance monitoring and data analysis.
He currently serves as a MELIA Assistant at the African Agricultural Leadership Institute (AALI), where he supports the design and implementation of monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems for agricultural development projects. In this role, he contributes to data collection, performance indicator tracking, results analysis, and evidence generation to support informed decision-making and enhance program effectiveness.
Since joining AALI in 2023, Yves has contributed to the implementation of the BBEST and Block Farming projects, supporting monitoring and evaluation activities, the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices, and capacity building for smallholder farmers.
Prior to his current role, he collaborated with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) through the Start Them Early Program (STEP) and participated in several agricultural development and youth entrepreneurship initiatives.
His professional experience reflects a strong commitment to sustainable agriculture, innovation, and results-based management, with a focus on strengthening agricultural development in Africa through effective monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems.
