Position : Project Accountant
Contract: 2 years renewable contract
Location: Ibadan/Nigeria
1. Description
The African Agricultural Leadership Institute (AALI) is seeking a highly qualified, experienced, and results-oriented Nigerian professional to join its team as a Project Accountant. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budget monitoring, compliance with donor and institutional requirements, and effective financial control across AALI projects.
2. DUTIES:
- Preparation of prompt, timely and accurate financial reports.
- Monitor budget against actual spending, including compliance with instituted controls.
- Participate in budget development of project cost centers.
- Coordinate retrieval of backup documents for donor reporting and project audit needs.
- Review/justification of partners’ expenses based on support documents submitted with the financial reports on various AALI projects.
- Investigate and respond to queries from budget holders and donors.
- Processing of payment requests, travel advances, expense claims and reimbursement.
- Donor invoicing based on an agreed schedule of disbursement or demand by the donor.
- Prepare adjustment journals when required in respect of transactions for uploading on Oracle.
- Accounts receivable follow-up.
- Provides support during the institute’s audit exercises.
- Monthly account reconciliation including banks, advances, clearing accounts and other relevant reconcilable accounts.
- Review transactions on cost centres and issues arising thereof.
- Review hosting agreements financial reports and process reimbursements due.
- Perform any other job-related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
QUALIFICATION:
BSc in Accounting, Finance or related field with a minimum of 7 years’ experience performing
a similar role in a well-structured environment. Possession of ACA or ACCA certification is required.

- Have excellent communication skills (writing, reading, oral).
- Have a strong analytical mind and attention to details.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suites and in use of ERP applications (e.g Oracle Net Suite).
- Be a good team player and honest
- Have a very pleasant personality.
- Be willing to travel to as official work demands
