On March 31, 2026, the African Agricultural Leadership Institute (AALI) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), marking a significant milestone in strengthening cooperation for agricultural transformation in the country.
This strategic partnership aims to enhance the alignment of interventions with national agricultural priorities at a time when food security in the DRC remains a critical driver of economic and social development. Through this agreement, both parties seek to reinforce their efforts to support local farmers, improve agricultural productivity, and promote inclusive and sustainable agriculture in the DRC.
The initiative also places a strong emphasis on youth and women empowerment, the transfer of proven agricultural technologies, increased private sector engagement, and the development of public-private partnerships in agriculture. These are recognized as key drivers to modernize the agricultural sector and accelerate sustainable agricultural development in the DRC. By fostering a more market-oriented agriculture, this partnership contributes to building resilient and competitive agricultural systems across the country.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by H.E. Muhindo Nzangi, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, and Dr. Mitima Djuma, Director of Partnerships and Agribusiness at AALI. This collaboration reflects a shared vision to position agriculture as a catalyst for economic growth, job creation, and shared prosperity in the DRC.
Through this cooperation framework, AALI and the Ministry reaffirm their commitment to advancing food security and food sovereignty in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
