As part of the Agricultural Transformation Agenda in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (ATA-DRC), the African Agricultural Leadership Institute (AALI) continues to advance its commitment to building a modern, inclusive, and high-performing agricultural sector. In Nkuadi, the Institute is implementing a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening the technical capacities of maize producers and processors in the provinces of Kasai Oriental and Lomami.
Through its Youth Brigade, AALI supports farmer organizations in adopting improved agricultural technologies. This participatory, youth-driven approach contributes to sustainably increasing yields, reducing post-harvest losses, and improving market access for local producers.
Training sessions, conducted from February 17 to March 15, 2026, in the territories of Tshilenge and Kabeya Kamwanga (Kasai Oriental), as well as in Ngandajika (Lomami), are part of the institute’s outreach model. These sessions equip participants with practical skills in good agricultural practices, integrated pest and disease management, and effective harvesting, post-harvest handling, and maize storage techniques.
A total of 123 producer organizations are benefiting from this technical support, including 85 in Tshilenge, 35 in Kabeya Kamwanga, and 12 in Ngandajika. Beyond capacity building, the initiative fosters linkages between producers, processors, and buyers, contributing to the development of more resilient and competitive agricultural value chains.
This initiative reflects AALI’s long-term vision of a dynamic African agriculture that drives innovation, creates value, and generates opportunities for youth.
