The African Agricultural Leadership Institute (AALI), in collaboration with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), launched a structured intervention focused on the identification of smallholder cassava producers and the distribution of improved cassava cuttings on April 3, 2026, in Nkuadi, Kasai Oriental Province, under the “Agenda de Transformation Agricole de la République Démocratique du Congo” (ATA-DRC).
This activity, organized with the strong involvement of local authorities, is part of a broader effort to strengthen the cassava value chain by improving access to quality planting materials and agricultural inputs while linking small-scale producers to certified seed multipliers. It reflects a strategic approach to enhancing productivity and building more resilient agricultural systems at the local level.

A total of 320 producers will be directly selected for participation in the program, while awareness and sensitization activities are expected to reach approximately 3,500 producers across the intervention area. This dual approach ensures both targeted support and wider community engagement.
Beyond distribution, this action aims to strengthen the foundations of a more structured and efficient cassava production system, improving yields, reducing dependency on low-quality planting materials, and enhancing food security and income-generation opportunities for rural households.
